Last Updated: 04/04/2026
Welcome to CertifyESA!
CertifyESA provides emotional support animal (ESA) and psychiatric service dog (PSD) letter services to help individuals with disabilities access the benefits of ESA and PSDs as allowed by applicable laws. By using CertifyESA’s services, including accessing or purchasing ESA/PSD letters, you agree to abide by and be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the services provided by CertifyESA.
1. General Information
By using CertifyESA, you acknowledge that:
You are requesting an ESA/PSD letter for legitimate medical reasons
The letter is intended solely for use in accordance with applicable housing, air travel, or other regulatory environments where ESA/PSD benefits apply.
2. Eligibility
To request an ESA or PSD letter, you must meet the following criteria:
You are at least 18 years old, or if you are under 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian request the letter on your behalf.
You must have a verifiable disability that qualifies under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) or the Fair Housing Act (FHA) and requires the support of an ESA or PSD.
Your data must be reviewed by a licensed healthcare professional who can verify your need for an ESA or PSD.
3. Services Provided
CertifyESA provides the following services:
Emotional Support Animal Letters: CertifyESA issues official ESA letters that can be used to request housing accommodations and, in certain cases, to waive pet fees or deposits with landlords or housing providers.
Psychiatric Service Dog Letters: CertifyESA offers PSD letters for individuals with disabilities who require a psychiatric service dog to perform specific tasks related to their disability, as outlined in the ADA.
Phone Consultations: CertifyESA may offer telehealth consultations with licensed healthcare professionals who can assess whether you qualify for an ESA or PSD.
4. Your Responsibilities
By requesting an ESA or PSD letter from CertifyESA, you agree to:
Provide truthful, accurate, and complete information when submitting your request for an ESA or PSD letter.
Complete all necessary forms and provide relevant documentation that supports your request.
Understand that CertifyESA is not responsible for verifying the accuracy of the medical information you provide, and you are solely responsible for ensuring that the information provided is true and accurate.
Use the ESA/PSD letter for its intended purpose and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Understand that the ESA/PSD letter does not guarantee acceptance by a housing provider, airline, or any other entity. Acceptance is ultimately determined by the respective organization or authority.
Follow up with relevant parties (such as airlines, landlords, or other organizations) to ensure that your ESA or PSD letter is properly recognized.
5. Fees and Payment
Fee Structure: CertifyESA charges a fee for the issuance of ESA/PSD letters. The specific fee will be disclosed at the time of your purchase.
Payment Methods: Payments are processed via credit card, debit card, or other approved methods. You agree to pay the full amount as specified when making a request for the letter.
6. Refund Policy
Our refund policy ensures that our licensed health care professionals (“LHCP”) effectively allocate their support to those in need.
- Administrative Fees: Once an order is placed, a $40 administration fee applies if a refund is requested before you have signed the LHCP consent form.
- Non-Refundable Status: Once the LHCP consent form is signed, the order is non-refundable unless you do not qualify for a letter as determined by the LHCP, or your landlord denies the letter after you have filed a formal complaint with HUD.
- Extenuating Circumstances: If an exception is made at our sole discretion outside the standard window, up to a $40 cancellation fee will apply.
- Express Services: Express consultation costs and expedited delivery fees are non-refundable. It is your responsibility to provide consent within 24 hours of ordering express service; failure to do so forfeits the rush fee.
- Document Amendments: No refunds are issued for extra document services or amendments unless they are rejected by a relevant authority and a claim has been filed with the appropriate department (e.g., HUD).
- PSD Letters: A Psychiatric Service Dog (PSD) letter requires self-certification. Refunds for PSD letters will not be issued for any reason other than a determination by the LHCP that you do not qualify.
8.2. California Residents (AB 468)
Effective January 1, 2022, California law requires a 30-day client-provider relationship for ESA dog letters, requiring two consultations. The 100% money-back guarantee still applies if you do not qualify or if a landlord denies the letter after a HUD complaint is filed.
8.3. Landlord and Airline Denials
- Third-Party Acceptance: It is ultimately the responsibility of the landlord or airline to accept your letter.
- Full Refunds: To receive a 100% refund due to a rejection, you must first file a claim with the appropriate department (e.g., HUD) and provide CertifyESA with the claim number.
- Valid Denials: If a landlord or airline denies a request for a valid reason under the Fair Housing Act (e.g., property damage or safety threats), a refund is subject to an administrative fee of up to $40.
- Terms and fees may change without formal notice. Please always contact CertifyESA regarding any changes. clinical@certifyesa.com
